5 steps to prepare the body and jaw for dental implant placement
Dental implant placement is a surgical procedure, the success of which depends not only on the skills of the dentist but also on your own body’s readiness. When the body is balanced and fed with the necessary vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, implants tend to integrate and heal better. We recommend starting preparations at least 2 weeks before the procedure to support the recovery of the bone and gums and reduce the risk of complications.
5 steps for successful implant preparation:
1. Vitamins and minerals – strong bone and tissue healing
The success of the implant depends on bone mineralization and tissue regeneration.
• Vitamin D (2000–4000 IU per day) – improves bone healing, reduces the risk of inflammation.
• Vitamin C (500–1000 mg per day) – supports collagen synthesis and wound healing.
• Magnesium (200–400 mg per day) – helps bones mineralize.
• Zinc (15–25 mg per day) – important for immunity and tissue recovery.
• Calcium (if needed) – to strengthen bones if enough is not obtained from food.
2. Reducing inflammation – body rest = faster recovery
• Omega-3 fatty acids (e.g. BalanceOil+) reduce inflammation.
• Curcumin (500–1000 mg per day) – natural anti-inflammatory effect.
• Antioxidants from berries, green tea, and vegetables.
3. Support for the microbiome and digestion
A healthy intestine and oral microflora help the body recover:
• Probiotics and fibers (e.g. Zinobiotic+).
• Balanced diet – plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and fruits.
4. Lifestyle – the best investment for recovery
• Quitting smoking for at least 2 weeks before and after the procedure.
• Limiting alcohol – slows down recovery.
• Sleep 7–8 hours, reducing stress, and daily physical activity.
• Regular exercise improves blood supply and oxygenation to tissues.
5. Oral hygiene – healthy gums = successful implant
• Brush your teeth 2x a day with a soft brush.
• Use dental floss, interdental brushes, or a mouth pressure washer.
• Before surgery, we also recommend professional cleaning.
Does Vitamin D increase the risk of bleeding?
It is often feared that Vitamin D may increase bleeding. In fact, this is not the case.
• Vitamin D supports ossification and immunity, without directly affecting blood clotting.
• Vitamin K is related to clotting, not D.
• Studies confirm that low levels of Vitamin D actually increase the risk of implant failure.
Omega-3 and surgery – should it be interrupted?
Omega-3 fatty acids make the blood a bit "thinner", but in normal amounts (1–3 g per day) they do not increase the risk of bleeding even during surgical procedures.
• If you are taking blood thinners as well, consult your doctor.
• For regular users, there is no need to stop omega-3 before dental implant placement.
2-week preparation plan
Every day:
• In the morning – Vitamin D, BalanceOil+, Vitamin C
• During the day – berries, vegetables, Zinobiotic+
• In the evening – magnesium, zinc, curcumin
• Water – 1.5–2 l per day
Additionally:
• Fish or plant-based omega-3 source 2–3 times a week
• 150 minutes of moderate activity per week
• Quitting smoking and limiting alcohol
• Regular day-night rhythm and good sleep
Summary
Dental implant placement is a long-term investment in your health.
Successful healing does not begin at the operating table, but in your body even before the procedure. The right vitamins, nutrients, lifestyle, and good oral hygiene help ensure that the implant lasts and serves you for years.
At CityMedi, we focus on holistic dentistry – we see each patient as a whole, not just through one tooth. Therefore, preparation, body balance, and overall health are as important as surgical skill.
